Jacqui Romero is a Senior Lecturer and Westpac Bicentennial Foundation Research Fellow at the University of Queensland, continuing her mission to extend quantum information using the shape of light with her team, Qudits@UQ. She holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Glasgow where she was a researcher for seven (7) years. After which, in 2015, she moved to Brisbane to join the Quantum Technology group at UQ.
In 2016, she took up an Australian Research Council fellowship with the same group. In 2017, she won one of four L'Oreal-UNESCO For Women In Science Fellowships in Australia. In 2018, she won the Ruby Payne-Scott Medal of the Australian Institute of Physics for excellence in early-career research. And, in 2019, she won a L’Oreal-UNESCO International Rising Star Grant, one of fifteen awards worldwide.
Jacqui holds BS Applied Physics magna cum laude and MS Physics degrees from the University of the Philippines.
About the Series
As part of the Asian Institute of Management's PhD in Data Science program kick-off, we are organizing a webinar series titled The Science of Data where we have invited leading scientists and rising stars in the fields of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Network Science, and Complex Systems.
Our main goal in this series is to spread knowledge and awareness of the rich field of data-driven and empirical science, and to inspire future scientists and young researchers in this part of the world to further invest their time in advancing science through R&D.
The series will run from October through December 2020.
